Some taxpayers may choose to pay the First Installment Cook County property taxes early for reasons such as winter travel or to increase their tax write-offs for the current year. The First Installment is an estimated bill equal to 55% of the prior year's
total tax. It was due Friday, March 1, 2024.
Four Ways to Pay Early
To pay your first installment property taxes early online, begin by entering your address or 14-digit Property Index Number (PIN) on the first page of the Property Tax Overview. Payments are accepted
from your bank account or credit card.
Send your payment with an original early payment tax bill or a PDF tax bill downloadable from this site and mailed to:
Cook County Treasurer
PO Box 805438
Chicago, IL 60680-4116
You may pay at any Chase Bank in Illinois with an original early payment tax bill or a PDF tax bill downloadable from this site.
You may pay at the Cook County Treasurer's Office with an original early payment coupon or a PDF tax bill downloadable from this site. The office is located at 118 North Clark Street, Room 112, Chicago,
Illinois.
If you pay by escrow, contact your lender prior to attempting to pay early to avoid double payments. If your early payment is received by December 31st, the First Installment tax bill which will be mailed in late January will reflect that payment. After
February 1, you may verify your payment by selecting Your Property Tax Overview. Please note that the Treasurer's Office has authorization to reduce the amount of your check to prevent overpayment.
