The Cook County Treasurer's Office now offers the Payment Plan Calculator, a free financial planning tool to help you make partial payments on your delinquent property taxes. All taxpayers with a delinquent tax balance of $100 or more are welcome to use
this tool. You can choose to make partial payments monthly or twice monthly, making it easier to manage your budget and, most importantly, avoid the Annual Tax Sale. You may also sign up for email or text message reminders to make your partial payments.
If you choose to use this tool, you must select an individual payment plan for each separate tax year in which you have an unpaid balance. Please note that signing up for a payment plan for one tax year (e.g., tax year 2022) does not automatically enroll
you in a payment plan for the current tax year (e.g., tax year 2023).
Additionally, note that using the tool, signing up for Payment Plan notices, and making some partial payments does not exempt your property from the Annual Tax Sale. Ultimately, the unpaid tax balances due on your property must be paid in full prior to
the start of the Annual Tax Sale for that tax year. However, if you make all the partial payments exactly as specified in your payment plan, your taxes will be paid in full prior to the start of the Annual Tax Sale.
