    County sources say a lively internal debate has broken out over whether to waive interest fees for being late with the second-half payment, which normally would be due Aug. 1, or whether to go even further and actually move back the payment deadline itself, Crain's Chicago Business reports.
	In a statement, County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Treasurer Maria Pappas say: "As we know, COVID-19 has taken a significant financial toll on so many within Cook County. Our offices have been working closely together to develop a plan to help property taxpayers during this pandemic.
    More than $6.5 billion in taxes are due in second-half payments.
