Treasurer Maria Pappas is making an appeal to shrink the Tax Sale list, Karen Jordan of WLS/Channel 7 reports. Delinquent taxes on nearly 57,000 properties could be auctioned at the Annual Tax Sale on May 3 if owners don't catch up on their property taxes, Pappas said.

For whatever reason, there are more parcels this year on the tax sale list than there have been in the past,” she adds.

Jordan also interviewed Ald. Carrie Austin, whose 34th ward has the most properties with delinquent taxes, and Tanya Woods, an attorney and executive director of the Westside Justice Center.
