There are more retirees drawing local government pensions in Cook County than there are workers paying into those pensions, Treasurer Maria Pappas says during an interview on “Connected to Chicago” on WLS/890-AM.

Pappas also tells WLS managing editor John Dempsey: “Of the 547 governments in all of Cook County, 169 of those have fewer employees than people drawing pensions. So we are kind of in a bind.”
