Treasurer Maria Pappas said there are more than 37,000 people whose unpaid taxes could be sold at auction starting May 4, according to a report by WBBM/780-AM & 105.9-FM.

It’s not always a crushing amount that is due, she said at a news conference. About 17,000 people owe less than $1,000.
