Property owners who use their bank accounts to pay their tax bills online will no longer have to pay a $1 fee, Treasurer Maria Pappas announced today.

While $1 is a negligible amount when homeowners’ tax bills are in the thousands of dollars, Pappas said, “It’s almost like the 7-cent plastic bag tax. It’s just an annoyance.” Rather than pay it, some taxpayers would opt to mail in their tax payments.
