Cook County Treasurer's Office - 2/26/2009
Due Date is Tuesday, March 3, 2009
The Casimir Pulaski holiday gives Cook County property owners an extra day to pay taxes before the due date of March 3, 2009, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas said today.
First-installment bills normally are due the first business day in March. Because Monday (March 2) is Pulaski Day in Illinois, Cook County bills for the first installment of tax year 2008 are due on Tuesday, March 3.
Pappas said payment can be made:
- From a checking or savings account at cookcountytreasurer.com, until 11:59 p.m. On-line payers should have their 14-digit Property Index Number (PIN) available.
- At some 330 Chase Banks, including at 68 Dominick's stores, to the close of business. The owner should have the payment coupon. A check should have the owner's name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address (if available), property location (with unit number) and PIN written on it. Chase locations are listed on cookcountytreasurer.com.
- By direct debit at 220 participating community banks, to the close of business. The owner should have the payment coupon. Community bank locations are listed on cookcountytreasurer.com.
- By mail, postmarked no later than March 3, 2009. The payment coupon should be returned with a check that has the owner's name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address (if available), property location (with unit number) and PIN written on it. No cash payment is accepted by mail.
