Notice from Treasurer Maria Pappas to Cook County property owners with unpaid taxes for tax year 2007.

The Annual Tax Sale begins in July, when delinquencies for tax year 2007 (bills mailed in 2008) will be offered at auction.  To avoid the Tax Sale, please pay by July 1.

If your unpaid taxes are bought by a tax buyer at the Tax Sale, you could face heavy financial penalties to avoid possibly losing your property.

If you have a delinquent bill from tax year 2007, pay immediately to avoid your unpaid taxes being published in a local newspaper in early June and offered at auction in July.  Pay on this Web site or at a Chase Bank.

To see whether you owe for tax year 2007, check this Web site by clicking "Payment Status" on the right side of the home page, or call 312-443-5100.

If you do not pay immediately, a bill will be sent to you by certified mail in early June.  Again, pay by July 1 to avoid the Annual Tax Sale.
