www.cookcountytreasurer.com Takes Full or Partial Payments on Current Bills and Bills from 2006
Cook County property owners can pay tax bills from two years on the website of Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas.
Pappas said today full or partial payment can be made on www.cookcountytreasurer.com for:
- Current bills due March 1, 2007, for the first installment of tax year 2006.
- Bills issued in 2006 for the two installments of tax year 2005.
"The most convenient way to pay in person is on-line, from a computer," Pappas said.
Taxpayers can learn how much is owed on current- and past-year bills at www.cookcountytreasurer.com or 312.443.5100. An inquiry requires a Property Index Number. Late penalties of 1.5 percent per month are in the amount owed.
Payment also can be made at nearly 300 Chase Bank locations, some in Dominick's Food Stores, and by direct debit at 214 participating community banks.
Cook County has nearly 1.7 million parcels of property -- homes, businesses and land - on which more than $9 billion is collected in two installments yearly. The revenue goes to local governments and other taxing agencies.
