See Amount And Pay On-Line Before Mail Brings Property Tax Bill, Pappas Says
Cook County homeowners can pay their latest property taxes on the Cook County Treasurer's website even before the bills arrive in the mail, Treasurer Maria Pappas said today.
More than 1.6 million bills for the second installment of tax year 2005 will arrive across Cook County the week of July 31, and are due September 1, 2006.
Before the bills arrive, property owners can visit www.cookcountytreasurer.com to see the amount owed and to pay on-line from a checking or saving account, Pappas said.
After the bills arrive the week of July 31st, the bill and stub are required for other forms of payment:
- In person, at 293 Chase Bank locations.
- In person, by direct debit at 211 participating community banks.
- By return mail, postmarked no later than September 1, 2006.
Pappas advised owners to have their 14-digit Property Index Number (PIN) ready when they make on-line payments. Taxpayers who call 312.443.5100 can get the amount of the bill in English, Polish or Spanish, and also should have the PIN available.
