Make Payments on Website, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas Advises

Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas advises property owners who still owe this year's property taxes that they can pay year-round on her office's website www.cookcountytreasurer.com.

"This is the easiest, most convenient way to pay property taxes," Pappas said."You can do it from your own home."

Pappas said that since her office made internet payment possible year-round, more people are choosing it as a payment option. Full or partial payments are made (no overpayments accepted) directly out of checking or savings accounts via the treasurer's website.

Taxpayers who missed the November 1 due date for the second installment of tax year 2004 can visit the website, click on "payments" and follow the instructions to make immediate payment.

Payments also can be made:

• At 278 Chase banks.
• By direct debit from more than 200 participating community banks.
• By mail to the Treasurer's Office.
