Pagar su factura de impuestos en linea es facil y seguro, pero tambien puede hacerlo por correo o en persona

En 1789, Ben Franklin escribió que nada era seguro “excepto la muerte y los impuestos”. Centrémonos en la parte de los impuestos de ese incómodo, pero célebre, recordatorio:

La fecha límite para que los propietarios del Condado Cook paguen la primera cuota de su impuesto predial de 2025 es el 1 de abril. Y existen varias maneras de hacerlo.

Los propietarios pueden elegir entre las siguientes opciones:

  • Pagar en línea (gratis usando su cuenta bancaria)
  • Pagar en una sucursal de Chase Bank
  • Pagar en un banco comunitario
  • Pagar por correo
  • Pagar en persona en la Tesorería
  • Pagar con tarjeta de crédito

Pagar en línea es la forma más rápida y sencilla de hacerlo. No hay ningún cargo si paga en línea mediante una transferencia desde su cuenta bancaria. Además, es muy conveniente porque puede pagar en cualquier momento, de día o de noche. Este método también es seguro y evita el riesgo de que alguien robe su cheque del buzón.

Otra opción es pagar en persona en cualquiera de las casi 400 sucursales de Chase Bank en Illinois, incluidas las que están fuera del Condado Cook. Para ello, debe presentar su cupón de pago del impuesto. Los cupones pueden imprimirse en línea o desprenderse de la parte inferior de la factura.

Si paga en Chase Bank, su cheque debe incluir la siguiente información:

  • Número de identificación de la propiedad (PIN)
  • Nombre del contribuyente
  • Dirección de la propiedad, incluido el número de unidad
  • Dirección postal
  • Número de teléfono
  • Correo electrónico
  • Año fiscal y cuota

También puede pagar en más de 100 bancos comunitarios. En cookcountytreasurer.com encontrará una lista de los bancos locales participantes donde se aceptan pagos del impuesto predial. Debe llevar la factura original completa, y un representante del banco le entregará un recibo de pago.

Si decide pagar por correo, su cheque debe incluir el PIN y la misma información requerida para el pago en una sucursal bancaria. El cheque cancelado funciona como su recibo. Los cheques para facturas vigentes deben enviarse a la oficina de la Tesorería del Condado Cook, P.O. Box 805438, Chicago, IL 60680-4116.

La Tesorería también atiende a quienes prefieren pagar en persona en 118 N. Clark St., Oficina 112, en el centro de Chicago.

Asimismo, puede pagar con tarjeta de crédito en línea en cookcountytreasurer.com. Este método tiene un cargo de conveniencia del 2.1% que se paga directamente al procesador del pago.

La ley estatal exige que quienes no paguen la totalidad de su factura antes de la fecha límite sean cobrados con un interés del 0.75% mensual, equivalente al 9% anual. La Tesorería permite realizar pagos parciales conforme el presupuesto del contribuyente lo permita. Sin embargo, el contribuyente sigue siendo responsable de pagar el monto total adeudado, además de cualquier interés generado por pagos tardíos.

Aunque lo que Ben Franklin escribió sobre los impuestos hace 237 años no es algo que nadie espere con entusiasmo, hoy en el Condado Cook el proceso debe ser lo más sencillo posible. Como se muestra aquí, pagar sus impuestos puede serlo.
