Nearly 17% increase in property tax in Chicago and Cook County

A new analysis by Treasurer Maria Pappas found a 16.7% increase in property taxes in Chicago and Cook County. According to the report, the main cause of this record increase is the sharp drop in the value of commercial properties in the city center.
