A new report shows that six of the top 10 areas with the largest homeowner tax increases and seven of the top 10 commercial landlord increases were in majority-minority communities. Black and Latino suburbs saw some of the largest property tax hikes in Cook County last year, according to a report from Treasurer Maria Pappas' office. The report, which analyzed 2020 tax year bills, showed that six of the top 10 areas with the largest homeowner tax increases and seven of the top 10 commercial landlord increases were in majority-Black and Latino communities.
