Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas and the Mexican Civic Society of Illinois, will host an event on Thursday, May 13, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Los Amantes Banquet Hall., 4753 W. 47th St., Chicago Illinois.

At 7 p.m., Pappas and Marco Polo Valladolid, Honorary Cook County Deputy Treasurer and President of the Mexican Civic Society of Illinois will unveil her office's new informational brochure in the Spanish language available at cookcountytreasurer.com.

"This new brochure is part of my office's broader effort to keep Cook County property owners, whose native language might not be English, informed about the complex property tax system," Pappas said.

"It is a true honor to host this event with Treasurer Pappas," Polo said. "She is always eager to help our community."

Treasurer's Office employees with laptops will help homeowners in Spanish and English between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to:

• Apply for $46 million in missing property tax exemptions
• Search for $76 million in available refunds
• Learn what to do if their property taxes are delinquent
