Cook County Treasurer's Office - 2/9/2005
Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas today reminded property owners that the latest property-tax bills have been mailed, and advised owners to contact her office if they haven't yet received a bill.
At the end of January, the Treasurer's Office mailed bills covering nearly 1.7 million parcels of property across Cook County for the first installment of property tax year 2004. The due date for the bills is March 1, 2005.
"If you haven't received a bill by now, contact our office at 312.443.5100, choose English, Spanish or Polish, and press 8," Pappas said. "A customer service representative will see that a replacement bill is mailed to you."
State law imposes a 1.5 percent per month late penalty on delinquent taxes, whether a property owner receives a bill or not.
Pappas again reminded property owners that bills can be paid at any of more than 250 Bank One locations, including in some Dominick's Finer Foods stores. The change to Bank One begins with current bills, Pappas said.
Bills also can be paid online at www.cookcountytreasurer.com.
